Jiweiling Injection is potent in treatment of bulbar paralysis caused by MND

The project--"A Study on TCM Jiweiling Injection in Treatment of Bulbar Patalysis Caused by MND" undertaken by the Specialized Department of Myatrophy (also Hebei TCM Treatment Center of Myatrophy) of Yiling Hospital Affiliated to Hebei Medical University has recently passed the appraisal organized by the Science & Technology Department of Hebei Province by expert team made up of famous national experts. Experts attended the meeting carefully listened to the study report, technological report, and investigation report of innovation. After question and reply, they have reached a consensus that this achievement has reached internationally advanced level.

Medulla Paralysis, also called Bulbar Paralysis, is a clinically common occurred syndrome caused by MND. Symptoms include short of breath, dysphagia, choke cough and dysarthria, which severely impacts the patients' life quality, and usually develops into inhalation pneumonia, asphyxia and endangers patient's life. Prof. Wu Yiling, also tutor of doctor, Dean of Yiling Hospital and other members of their research stuff worked for years on the theoretical and clinical study, and invented a therapy for Bulbar Paralysis based on the Eight Extra Channels and Collaterals Therapeutic Theory. According to their opinions, the key factor to Bulbar Paralysis is loss of nutrient in the extraordinary eight meridians and the sluggishness and deficiency of vital qi in the collaterals, and the treatment is to restore the vigor and tonify the atrophy, replenish the nutrients and induce muscle growth, increase the vital qi and dredge collaterals. The Jiweiling Injection they prepared is an originally created rational formula with adequate drug interaction and compatibility and remarkable therapeutic effect.

In order to further study the mechanism of Jiweiling Injection's effect, they cooperated with the Life Science college of Beijing University, No.3 Military Medical University and US JACKSON Laboratory, and the experimental result confirmed that Jiweiling Injection is an innovative and effective preparation for MND treatment because of its neuroprotaction effect on both normal motorneuron and neurotoxicity injured motor neuron as well as the fact that it may promote proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells cultured in vitro towards neurons and prolong the survival time and pre-paralysis time of genetically recombined  ALS mice. The clinically therapeutic effect is also prominent with remarkable improvement on patient's bulbar paralysis and breathing function, and it may significantly elevate life quality and prolong the survival time of patients.

It is the consensus of all experts participated in the meeting that Jiweiling Injection is prepared with advanced technology, feasible in preparation technology and high in quality standard along with guaranteed effect and quality with no side effect through toxicological tests, which has presently reached international advanced level.

It is known that the related study on Jiweiling Injection is being proceeded according to China national approval standards of new drugs, in hope of becoming the first national TCM injection for motor neuron disease.
